I finally got to go ride!! =D Becca and I went on the "Round House" trail, which is a wide gravel trail that they use for hayrides in the fall. Well...when we took Buddy and Sassy out (I was on Sassy), it was all I could do to hold Sassy back. Buddy was more laid back, but Sassy just wanted to go, and go fast. Suddenly, Becca shot by me at a trot (Missouri Foxtrotters trot very smoothly and quickly) and Sassy didn't need or want any encouragement from me to go and catch up. The next thing I knew, I was cantering past Becca, and I heard her shout, "You're cantering!! No fair!!" Then I got smacked in the face by a branch and we stopped lol. I think I got smacked in the face like 5 times lol. Anywho, once on the round house trail, we just let them go, because, well, they wanted to go! Lol. And it would have been more tiring to them fighting us than the actually running itself. Plus, more enjoyable for us. ^_~ And her mom didn't exactly say, "No trotting or cantering"...so technically we didn't disobey, because they wasn't anything TO disobey. ^_^;;;;

When I leased a quarter horse named Bo when I was little, I fell off numerous times while cantering, and I developed a huge fear of it because, well, falling 4+ feet while moving quickly isn't exactly fun. But somewhere in the 2 years I haven't ridden, I've gotten over it. I dunno if it was the constant yearning to be out on the trails, or that I've galloped so many miles in my mind that the fear just disappeared...but somehow, it did. And when I was out there yesterday, nothing else in my life mattered but the ground ahead. There were no thoughts, no depression, no sound, no pain...just the ground ahead.

...I cannot wait for tomorrow's 3 hour long trail ride. ^_^

Alan-monkey is the best friend a girl could ever have..and he needs to stop getting into trouble before one of his friends (AKA me) starts getting gray hair worrying about him!!!!
