God, I'm so tired today. The swelling from the bee sting is going down, but my leg feels so damn achy now. I now have an itchy welt the size of a silver dollar on the inside of my foot. ~_~ Death to bees everywhere.
I've been doing some more thinking on the whole robot thing. The 3 basic laws that Asimov created were basically:
1. A robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2. A robot must obey orders given to it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.
So...what if a robot was walking down the street, and saw that the headlines on a tossed paper were something along the lines of, "Millions dying from disease each year". Well...wouldn't it "think" to itself, "Through my inaction, humans are dying!" What would happen then? Let your imagination run rampage for a few minutes.
But what if we didn't have those three laws. What would we have to govern robots? It couldn't be anything like, "Obey all commands," because then anyone could tell their robot to go rob a bank for them. And that wouldn't exactly be good. Merf...I guess I'll just have to leave that up to the geniuses who are creating them. Lol.
I give robotics 30 years. I mean, if we went back 30 years, there practically were no computers. If we can go from nothing to the advanced tech we have now, just think of where we'll be in another 30-40 years. I just want to live long enough to have a conversation with a robot. After that, I'll consider my life complete.
